Vision for the Future
Many young women that choose life have no where to call home. It is our vision to provide a residential program that will be free of charge to all young women.
Merci’s Refuge
Merci’s Refuge will be a non-profit maternity home, an arm of Living Alternatives, designed to assist and meet the needs of young women faced with unplanned pregnancies.
It is our vision to provide free residential treatment to young, expectant women between the ages of 13-28. The program will be designed to address the whole person, spiritual, physical and emotional. Our non-conventional approach to treatment will change more than behavior; the Merci’s Refuge program will change hearts and stop destructive cycles.
Young women will come to Merci’s Refuge on a voluntary basis and no one will be forced to stay in the program against her will. We assume the average stay of our residents will be 6-9 months, based on their need.
For our pregnant residents, we will provide a Basic Decision Making Program that assists the young woman in deciding about parenting or placing her baby for adoption. We will provide parenting classes for those who decide to parent and grief counseling for those who chose to place their child.
We plan to operate debt free and only expand after raising the funds for Merci’s Refuge, beginning small (5-8 woman) and expand only as the Lord opens the door.
