2nd Annual Life Banquet

Thursday October 28, 2010

Hamilton's Jacksonville 7:00

Guest Speaker:

Abby Johnson

Abby Johnson quit her job. That simple act has become a national news story because Johnson, 29, was the director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas who said she experienced a "change of heart" while participating in an abortion procedure. Johnson has now joined a group called Coalition for Life, which prays outside the clinic where she worked.

We still have a need for people willing to sponsor a table for our Annual Life Banquet. We are in need of table sponsors from $250 - $10,000. Table sponsors receive a premium table at the Banquet and receive and invitation to a V.I.P. Reception with Abby Johnson from 5:45 - 6:30 the night of the Banquet. We will also recognize your gift in the printed program for the night.

Interested in Volunteering?

The Pregnancy Resource Center has a great need for volunteers.  Our volunteers are vital to the ministry.  Without them we could not continue our mission to save babies and reach the lost.  For more information on how you can help contact the PRC at (217) 245-9340 or Jacksonville@hopeforafuture.com

I hope you will be encouraged by the following testimony and praise report!

A
couple of weeks ago I received a message that a teenager wanted to come in and talk to someone about the possibility that she was pregnant. To my dismay this was someone I personally knew, as well as her family. I called her back to schedule the appointment and she felt relieved to be able to talk to someone she knew and was comfortable with. She had grown up in a good Christian home and accepted Christ at a young age but was going through a stubborn rebellious phase and made some foolish choices. She was very upset to learn that she was pregnant. She was enrolled in college and she and the father of the baby had mutually agreed to end their relationship. I asked if her parents knew. She replied,"No and I don't ever want to tell them! They will not be happy with me." I replied with “If you want, I can talk to them. They need to know so that they can help you. You don't want to put them through the shock of finding out at the hospital when you go into labor."

Thankfully she was not abortion minded. She had been well informed about the Sanctity of Human Life and even remembered filling a baby bottle at her church. However, she was very scared to tell her parents and admitted that she did not want to go back to church for fear of what they would think of her. She also felt as though she couldn't face her younger peers in youth group as she had been looked up to by them.

I am so glad that she came to the PRC and that because we are a Christian organization we can minister God's love and truth to women and girls like her. I told her that God still loved her and had a good plan for her life and the life of her child. I was able to minister 1st John 1:9, John 8 and Col. 3:12-14. Basically what I was sharing with her is that Jesus loves her and was asking her to repent of her sin and make a change. We as Christians don't have a right to throw stones at her. Some of our sins are not as obvious as hers but God views them the same. Sin is Sin. As Christians the Bible exhorts us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. The good news is this girl was receptive and encouraged by Gods truth. She has since repented and has recommitted her life to the Lord. She hasn't fallen away from God or her church but instead is experiencing His unconditional love, forgiveness and hope for her future! She plans to parent with her families help, and continue her education as well as get help from the PRC’s HOPE parenting education program.

Aren't you glad that there is a Pregnancy Resource Center here in our community that offers women like her God's message of HOPE!

PROJECT ULTRASOUND UPDATE:

The Pregnancy Resource Center is in the process of becoming a medical clinic.  We are in the final stages of our conversion.  With the completion of the conversion each at risk woman who comes to the PRC will have the opportunity to speak with a nurse, as well as confirm their pregnancy with the use of pregnancy testing and ultrasound.  This gives each woman the chance to both hear and see the truth about the life growing within her.

The number of women considering abortion and then changing their plan to one that gives their baby life and the mother hope has gone up as much as 70% in other centers that have converted to a medical clinic.

Would you like to join our medical team?

We are in need of more nurses to run pregnancy tests.  We are also looking for nurses interested in completing the needed training to perform limited obstetrical ultrasound scans.  For more information, contact us at jacksonville@hopeforafuture.com
