Letter from the Director:
Let me tell you what took place at our local Center in January. We had a girl come in whom I could almost agree that abortion was the way out. She is an international student who had endured a violent rape that ended unbelievably in a pregnancy. Because of her culture, she was fearful of anyone finding out and perhaps being sent home, losing her educational visa and then being shunned in her home country. Fortunately she was found to be 27 weeks pregnant along, too far along to legally get an abortion. On April 2nd I was privileged to coach this precious young mother through labor and delivery. She gave birth to a beautiful 7 lb. 2 oz. daughter.
The next day this new little soul, Lillian, met her adoptive mommy and daddy for the first time. I had taken pictures of the adoptive mom seeing her daughter for the first time and then holding her for the first time. I did not realize until the photos were developed that I had inadvertently gotten our birth mom in the picture. She had the most enormous smile on her face as she watched the instant bond take place. She shared with me that she was glad she did not have to have an abortion - she feared the risks, physical and especially emotional. Let me tell you, the whole experience was priceless!
For the adoption option,
Diana Litteral, Director
